AEOLIAN RIDE
LOS ANGELES!
BIKE SUMMER KIDS

I HEART LA!
THE LOS ANGELES RIDE on 09.10.05 was amazing thanks to all who volunteered and participated! For the first time ever we rode with lights in the suits! We had some great photographers capture this ride ~ enjoy!

Getting it on. Volunteers dressed in green learn the process from yours truly.

  MY BRO!
This was the first time my brother Jason got to experience the ride and I put him right to work. He put his fancy driving in to practice chasing the ride with the videographer and one of the photographers.

  GETTING THE PUFF UP
I never really thought about people running around in the suits when i made them. I think its great that people do it. Its really funny to watch.

  HOME MADE LOVE!
Two Aeolian riders made their own suits out of sheets - they couldn't print the pattern so they did it by looking at the pictures. (PS. Please send me your names so I can credit you :)

HOME MADE SUITS!
It's so cute makes you just want to hug them!

I also want to note that there was another couple who's mom works for the US department of defense sewing parachutes. She used her military sewing skills to make 2 suits that look exactly like the drop suit - which they kindly donated to the ride. So the LA ride actually had 54 suited riders in total! (If any of you have a picture of Jonathan H. & companion in their suits - please send them to me!!!)

That the air in the suit could be filled with giggles and lift you off the ground like this lady seems to be doing here.

  COMPLETE THE SUITS!
Jacob Gordon wanted to see it all in white and brought us 20 some pairs of white pants for the ride! Thanks JG!!

  REMEMBER GLOWWORMS?
They kind of remind me of those Marcel Dzama ghost night lights. Just not sad.

  THE PARK
This is where the real magic happened. The lights in the suits were mostly drowned out by street lights a good portion of the ride. The excitement of riding in the streets led everyone to forget about the lights. Until we got to the park. Without many people around watching - it was like a secret for all the riders. As we wound down the curvy path you could hear their simultaneous surprise in "ohhh!"s and "ahhh!"s . Look close and you can see tiny suits.

  FIREFLIES ON THE GRASS
It was difficult to truly capture the light as your eye saw it with the suits at night. Elon's picture here does a good job - though you really have to be there in person - come to the next ride!!

HERE'S THE END WITH THE LEADER
Dear Trystan Cobbett!

BIG BIG THANKS to Greg Shakar for his help designing the lights, and Heather Delaney and Katherine Moriwaki for helping to build them. David Benoff from Bike Summer LA was the reason this ride made it to LA - and organized the after party, the Bike Summer LA crew Liz, Ryan, Lars Lehtonen, Jen Diamond, Jason Saunders, and Trystan Cobbett for their help organizing, the A-house for the party space, and Miss Margot Jacobs for her help organizing the peeps. Thanks to all the safety riders only one person fell off their bike. Thanks to the photographers who made the ride visible today: Clayton Harper, Charles Haine, Elon Schoenholz, Megan Anton, Monica Howe, Allen Nakagawa not to forget the lovely videographer Olivia Pong. And to my super sweet little bro Jason, who housed me and did my bidding until it all got done. Super BIG THANKS and hugs to everyone who rode ~ you make it happen!
