TORRE SAN NICOLÒ

Nobody was manning the tower so we were free to invade with Aeolian Ride. In the distance you can see the Dome of the Florence Cathedral.

IF YOU WERE WONDERING WHAT WAS INSIDE THIER FABULOUS DOME
Giorgio Vasari's fresco took 11 years to paint and was completed by another artist, Federico Zuccari. The scenes from hell are worthy of some serious heavy metal album covers.

Aeolian Ride Firenze 2014   BUBBLE TROUBLE
Silvia told me the first time she saw the suits she wanted to do the Aeolian Ride. So she contacted me with her group Ciclica and organized to bring the ride to Florence. The new bump in her belly prevented her from riding a bike the day of the ride. So I showed her the stationary way to put a bump on your back with a nice breeze.

Aeolian Ride Firenze 2014   IF YOU INFLATE IT THEY WILL COME
This ride had sold out online - we wondered how many might show up... many came last minute and also passing cyclists wanted to join the ride.

Aeolian Ride Firenze 2014   BIG KIDS

  PONTE ALLE GRAZIE
The direct translation for the name of the first bridge we cross on this ride is "Point to Thank". I would like to take this point to thank every person ever involved with the ride, the riders, the organizers, the photographers, the safety people the smiling people on the streets, the people who designed the streets and the people who brought me into this universe and gave me so much love and joy to share with the world.

PONTE ALLE GRAZIE
is also the longest bridge in Florence. This gives you time to thank any one in your life too :)

GOGO GOWANUS
Riding over Superfund waters! "As a result of years of discharges, storm water runoff, sewer outflows and industrial pollutants, the Gowanus Canal has become one of the nation's most extensively contaminated water bodies. On March 2, 2010, EPA added the Gowanus Canal to the Agency’s Superfund National Priorities List (NPL)"

GHOSTS IN THE GRAVEYARD
Gliding by the graves of some of the greats buried in the Basilica of Santa Croce. Some of these including Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei. Gems of history embedded into everyday space of Florentine life.

  VINO MAGNIFICO
It has been said that during midieval times that builders would drink diluted wine for the extra calorie intake. If this is true - I have to say I am impressed at their drunken abilities.

  SMILES FOR MILES
I mean kms. These are examples of joy loops or contagious happiness that make me want to continue the ride and what has given the ride it's own life for the last 10 years. The dog walker is happy to see Aeolians Riding by, this along with riding, can make riders happy. Therre were not enough suits for the woman still she rides along because the it makes her happy, later she was so excited to wear a suit left by someone who had to leave early.

  OH DUOMO
Photographer Francesco Safina captures the fantastic Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore - The Florence Cathedral. It only took 140 years to build. A little less time than the 6 centuries it took to complete Milan's Duomo.

LANDING IN LE MURATE
Our inflated flight landed in this courtyard that once was a prison now turned to public housing. I love that Florence is always transforming the spaces of history into something they can use today. We had a lovely appertivo and concert here at the Cafe Letterario.
